3.7. Access Violation error?

I get an access violation error trying to use EstiMate. What should I do?

Access Violation is a common Windows error message that can have a variety of meanings. Below are some possible solutions:

1. Reboot the computer. The problem should evaporate. Try this first, as this resloves the error in most cases.

2. If you are getting Access Violation when trying to edit a digital printing (thermal) line item on an old job that was created in a version of EstiMate previous to upgrading then try the following:

A. Re-select the foil (literally drop down and reselect the item).
B. Choose the printer you are using and the proper dpi.

This will eliminate the access violation/floating point errors. Re-selecting gives the software the proper min. sq. inches for the foil ( a key divisor, hence the div by zero error ). Choosing the printer moves the quote into the new way of doing things that offers printer definitions.

3. In some versions of EstiMate usually 1.94 and later access violation may point to another issue: TePlugin Configuration. If you get Access Violation when you try to click on Add Item > Vinyl Signs or any of the other plugins, then press OK on the error message, close whatever screen you are on and close the EstiMate Application itself. Re-open EstiMate. If you get an error on reopening that says:

Cannot load TePluginConfigurations or Error retrieving object TePluginConfigurations then follow the procedures outlined in EstiMate knowledge base article 351. The article can be accessed by copying/and pasting the following link into your web browser:

Following procedures to clear up this error will also clear up the access violation error.
