Home → EstiMate Version 1 → Error Messages & Behavioral Problems → Interface mismatch. Engine version different error?
Detailed Explanation:
There is a known problem that occurs when installing the software on some PC's. When the software is run you will get an error message "Interface mismatch. Engine version different". This indicates there is a problem in the Borland Database Engine (BDE). The BDE is common database software that is installed by many programs.
EstiMate installs the latest version of the BDE as a part of its system. The BDE is needed to store your ingredients, list of customers, settings etc. The problem arises when an older version of the BDE is already on the system. Since many applications use the BDE it is difficult to determine what program installed the original version.
The instructions below outline how to resolve this error as far as EstiMate is concerned. It is possible however that if you are running a software package that is using an older version of the BDE then the instructions below may render that application unusable and you will need in turn to contact that software vendor for a new update that contains the latest BDE version. Known conflicts are with older versions of FlexiSign and Goldmine. Please keep this in mind when reviewing the instructions below.
Answer:
