Q: When I open EstiMate I get an error message that reads: Your plugin configuration files (market level settings etc) have been corrupted due to a power outage or some other phenomena. Please restart EstiMate to rebuild these configurations. After restarting you will have to re-set the specifics such as market level, etc. when prompted. How can I fix this?
A: This error can be caused by a sudden power outage (as stated), or by some other phenomena. The other "phenomena" could be another software application interfering with EstiMate (e.g. anti-virus, Windows Updates, etc.) It can sometimes be hard to determine which program might be causing a problem, but here are some steps to fix the problem and to try and prevent it from happening again in the future.
To fix the problem:
Pdoxusrs.lck
Paradox.lck
Pdoxusrs.net
You may get the error message one more time upon restarting EstiMate. Just click "OK" on the error message, and start EstiMate again. After it opens restart it one more time and you should not get that error message again.
To prevent the problem:
There is really one main way to prevent this problem and that is to shut EstiMate down if it's not in use. It's fine to leave EstiMate up while you go to lunch for instance, but be sure to save what you are working on and shut it down before you go home for the evening. If EstiMate is running, and your computer has to reboot itself to apply some changes (e.g. Windows Update) it can cause this issue, as well as others.
Once you have resolved this issue you will need to reset your plugin configurations.
Otherwise you can do this whenever you need to use the plugin. If you select "No - Run with the defaults" EstiMate will continue to ask you this every time you try to use that plugin.
After you have configured all of your plugins make a backup in EstiMate (Management > Backup/Restore Data Files), so that if this happens again shortly afterward you can just restore the backup and it will be fixed and nothing will be lost.
