3.1. $251E Error when trying to launch EstiMate?

I am running Windows XP and get and error $251E when trying to run EstiMate.

NOTE: This solution assumes you have EstiMate installed in its default location of C:\Program Files\EstiMate. If you have the software installed in an alternate location you will need to modify these directions accordingly.

The error is most often related to misconfigured properties of the EstiMate.exe application. To resolve the error do the following:

1. Press OK on the error message and close EstiMate.
2. Right-Click on your computers start icon and select 'explore' from the menu. Windows Explorer will appear.
3. In the list of folders on the left, find the 'Program Files' folder (two words) and open it.
4. Find the EstiMate folder and open it.
5. Locate the icon labeled EstiMate that has the stopwatch icon. Right-click on the icon and select 'properties' from the menu.
6. Click the compatibility tab and uncheck the "Run this program in compatibility mode" checkbox. Click the apply button and click OK.
7. Launch EstiMate. The program should now run normally.
