4.53. How do I do multiple colors of vinyl?

> I do a lot of multicolor vinyl (4 & 5 colors), you have only 3 vinyl drop down >boxes in EstiMate so
> How does one compensate for the extra vinyl colors in your program.

The vinyl dropdown boxes are one of the most misunderstood aspects of EstiMate. The boxes are actually for * types * of vinyl rather than colors of vinyl. How EstiMate views multiple colors is that the only difference between two or more colors from a pricing standpoint is the TIME to cut, weed, and apply the additional colors. Hence, one would choose a type of vinyl from the first dropdown box, for example, premium (standard colors), set your vinyl coverage in the copy and colors box type in the copy and how many colors of vinyl are being used.

Most importantly you will want to raise the general difficulty slider upward until the production time looks right to account for the time it will take to cut, weed and apply the additional colors. Thats it! Multiple colors done with only one vinyl dropdown box!

Like most things, there is always an exception to the rule. Dropshadow. For example say you were putting 'Joe's Garage' on a sign for a customer in red letters. The customer also wants grey dropshadow for emphasis. In this case since both the copy and the dropshadow cover the same area hence you would select the first vinyl dropdown for 'Joe's Garage' and select your coverage, say 85%. You would then use the second vinyl dropdown for the dropshadow and also put your coverage at 85% since you will be covering the same area as the first vinyl albeit with more waste.
