Procedure for pricing Gerber floorminder graphics that are unprinted and cut into stripes on a plotter.
Quote from the Gerber website:
"3M? FloorMinders? from Gerber
This material allows EDGEŽ owners to realize the retail advertising potential of floor space and counter tops. The 3M FloorMinders from Gerber kit includes Controltac 162 film and Scotchcal overlaminate film 3645."
The pricing procedure below involves placing the floorminder kit into the vinyls database and creating a vinyl signs quote incorporating a customer supplied substrate with the film and laminate at 100% coverage.
1. On EstiMate?s main screen click Edit Data Files > Ingredients > Vinyls. Click the ?New? button.
2. Enter in the Controltac film specifications including description roll dimensions, cost and markup. Click the green OK checkmark to save the entry.
3. Click ?New? once again to Enter in the overlaminate specifications including description roll dimensions, cost and markup. Click the green OK checkmark to save the entry. Click the green checkmark once again to exit the vinyls database.
4. On EstiMate?s main screen click Edit Data Files > Ingredients > Substrates. Click the ?New? button.
5. Enter a substrate called ?Customer Supplied?. Enter the number zero in the cost field and save the entry. No further adjustment is needed. Click the checkmark again to exit the substrate database.
6. Click New Estimate > Add item > Vinyl Signs. Select the customer supplied substrate from the substrate dropdown.
7. Input the quantity, sides of 1, the height of the stripe in the height field and the total width in the width field. EstiMate will accommodate large widths, so if you are doing stripes for flooring in a large factory, for example, it may be appropriate to have widths in the 300,000 ? 800,000 inch range depending on the size of the flooring you will be covering. You will need to determine how much flooring you will be covering and then convert that to inches to get the appropriate width measurement to put in the width field.
8. Select the film from the vinyls dropdown. Place the coverage on 100%. Select the laminate from a 2nd vinyls dropdown also placing it on 100% coverage.
9. Click the calculate total button. EstiMate will generate a price. The important thing is to look at the production time EstiMate is showing. If the production time is too low then consider raising the general difficulty level slider until the production time is right based on your estimation. The time EstiMate shows is the time to cut, weed, and apply the floorminders.
Q & A
Q: I am using more than one type of film some stripes will be reflective and other types of vinyl where needed. How do I quote with this in mind?
A: In the width field input the maximum width that type of vinyl will cover and save the line item. Duplicate the line item, edit it, and input the maximum width dimension for this type of vinyl and dropdown a different film from the vinyls dropdown. Calculate the total and save the line item. Repeat as necessary.
Q: My price is too high. What do I do to get it lower?
A: Since this type of work does not need any design time, be sure to put your artwork complexity at zero. This will yield a more attractive price.
